Bid rejected – West Ham will need to increase offer to sign favorites target, patience may be needed

West Ham United’s interest in Galatasaray attacker Barış Alper Yılmaz has resurfaced, reigniting speculation about the 24-year-old’s potential move to the Premier League. This follows their initial pursuit of the versatile forward last summer, which ultimately failed to materialize. Known for his explosive pace and ability to operate across the front line, Yılmaz has become one of Galatasaray’s standout players, making him a prized asset for the Turkish champions.
Reports suggest that Galatasaray had previously valued Yılmaz at around €40 million, a price tag reflecting his growing importance to the team. However, recent developments hint that West Ham might test their resolve with a more modest offer. Turkish journalist, who specializes in Galatasaray, has claimed, “West Ham United are preparing to make an offer of €20+5m for Barış Alper Yılmaz. Galatasaray has an expectation of more than €30m for Barış Alper Yılmaz.”
This proposed bid indicates a gap between West Ham’s valuation of the player and Galatasaray’s demands. As things stand, it seems unlikely that the Istanbul giants will entertain offers for one of their key players during the January transfer window. The club is deeply embroiled in a competitive campaign, challenging for silverware on multiple fronts, including the domestic league, Turkish Cup, and European competitions. Yılmaz’s contributions are considered pivotal to their success, making his departure mid-season highly improbable.
That said, circumstances may change when the summer transfer window opens. By then, West Ham could be in a stronger position to negotiate, particularly if Yılmaz pushes for a move or if Galatasaray reassesses their squad dynamics and financial priorities. The Hammers, currently looking to bolster their attacking options, might also have more flexibility in their budget, depending on their performance in the Premier League and potential earnings from European competition qualification.
Yılmaz, who remains under contract with Galatasaray until June 2027, has steadily built a reputation as one of Turkey’s brightest talents. His technical skills, combined with his work rate and ability to deliver in high-pressure moments, have not only earned him admirers in England but also solidified his place in Galatasaray’s future plans. If West Ham are serious about securing his services, they may need to significantly increase their offer to match Galatasaray’s valuation while also persuading the player of their long-term vision.
For now, it appears that West Ham will have to wait patiently, with hopes of reigniting negotiations in the summer. Until then, Yılmaz is expected to remain a central figure for Galatasaray as they pursue their ambitious goals this season.
