Tottenham Welcome player with joy’ –As he set to return to training, fresh start for Spurs
Wilson Odobert’s journey at Tottenham Hotspur has been a challenging one since his arrival from Burnley last summer. The 20-year-old winger, who initially showed promise in his limited appearances for the Premier League side, has been sidelined for much of the season due to persistent injury issues.
Odobert made five appearances for Spurs before a hamstring injury in September disrupted his progress. Although he managed to return to action a month later, his comeback was short-lived. During Tottenham’s Europa League clash against AZ Alkmaar, he suffered another setback, which led to surgery in November. Since then, the young Frenchman has been working on his recovery and has been one of the club’s long-term absentees.
In what could be seen as a silver lining amid Tottenham’s injury crisis, there’s encouraging news regarding Odobert’s recovery. According to a report from L’Équipe, the France U21 international is expected to return to training at the “start of February.” The publication further specifies that he could resume on-field sessions as early as February 4th, a significant milestone in his rehabilitation.
This development is undoubtedly a boost for Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou, whose squad has been hampered by injuries during a difficult winter period. Although Odobert is yet to score or assist for Tottenham, his early performances at the club hinted at his potential. L’Équipe highlights that Spurs, “who are going through a very complicated winter sportingly, should welcome him with joy” upon his return.
However, the road back to full match fitness may take some time. While Odobert’s return to training is imminent, the report cautions that he might not feature in competitive matches until March. Tottenham will likely take a cautious approach to ensure the winger is fully ready before reintroducing him to the intensity of Premier League football.
For Odobert, this will be a crucial period as he looks to leave his injury troubles behind and re-establish himself in Postecoglou’s plans. The young winger will be eager to regain momentum and contribute to Spurs’ campaign as they aim to overcome their current struggles and finish the season strongly.
