Man City just signed Guardiola best player he desire, he’s so happy

Manchester City appear to be stepping up their efforts to sign Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz, with fresh reports suggesting the Premier League champions have made a “decisive move” in their bid to land the highly-rated attacking midfielder. Pep Guardiola is said to be a huge admirer of the 21-year-old, viewing him as the ideal successor to Kevin De Bruyne, whose time at the Etihad is coming to an end with his contract set to expire.
Wirtz has established himself as one of the brightest young talents in European football, playing a pivotal role in Bayer Leverkusen’s historic 2023/24 campaign under Xabi Alonso. The German giants secured a domestic double—winning both the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal—while suffering just one defeat across all competitions, a rare loss in the Europa League final to Atalanta.
The young German international was instrumental throughout the season, registering an eye-catching 18 goals and 20 assists in all competitions. He has continued his excellent form into the current campaign, notching up an impressive 28 goal contributions in 41 appearances, even as Leverkusen’s overall performance levels have slightly dipped.
It’s no surprise, then, that Wirtz has become one of the hottest properties on the transfer market. Manchester City are reportedly among the frontrunners for his signature, as Guardiola looks to reshape his midfield options following De Bruyne’s impending departure. While several names have been mentioned as possible replacements, including Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, Wirtz is understood to be the top priority due to his exceptional technical ability, creativity, and goal threat.
Though Gibbs-White offers valuable Premier League experience, there’s a strong consensus that Wirtz, despite playing in the Bundesliga, possesses a significantly higher ceiling. However, quality comes at a price, and Leverkusen are reportedly demanding a hefty fee of €110 million (£94 million) for their star playmaker.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester City are prepared to meet the German club’s valuation and have already taken concrete steps towards securing a deal. Guardiola is described as being deeply invested in the pursuit, labelling Wirtz his “great desire” and the “perfect” player to fill the creative void De Bruyne will leave behind.
This reported “decisive move” follows earlier indications that City had already made contact with Leverkusen to explore the possibility of a transfer. While City face stiff competition—Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid are all believed to be monitoring the situation—sources suggest that the reigning English champions are ready to go all-in to win the race for Wirtz.
Crucially, the player himself is said to be intrigued by the idea of playing in the Premier League, with the opportunity to work under Guardiola and compete for major honours potentially proving too tempting to resist. With negotiations seemingly accelerating, all eyes will be on Manchester City as they look to pull off one of the blockbuster signings of the summer.
