Most-Wanted Man in Baseball: Padres Win Wild Chase for Red Sox Star Jarren Duran in Blockbuster Move

The San Diego Padres have performed well this season. They are currently 33-24 and hold the second National League Wild Card spot as the month of June begins.

However, they need a little bit of a boost offensively, and that is something they could look to address at the trade deadline.

The team is already looking into a number of potential targets, according to Dennis Lin of The Athletic.

One in particular might surprise fans. Lin notes that Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is among the potential targets.

“As the Padres face a daunting upcoming schedule and glaring holes at the bottom of their lineup, their list of trade targets again includes Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran, league sources told The Athletic,” Lin wrote.

The Red Sox are struggling immensely at the moment and are currently 29-32. That’s good for fourth place in the American League East. Boston also has top prospect Roman Anthony waiting in the wings.

Without a clear spot for Anthony, he likely won’t get much playing team. But the Padres need help in the outfield, and having Duran added to the mix would give them a great chance to potentially run down the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West.

San Diego is only two games back entering Monday.

Duran was an All-Star for the first time last year and is slashing .264/.312/.406 with four home runs, 34 RBI, 13 stolen bases and a .718 OPS.

Boston would likely want a major haul in exchange for Duran. It will be interesting to see if the Padres are willing to pay the price.
